Energy & Infrastructure

Edwin's energy and infrastructure practice is among the most substantial in Uganda. He has advised on the development, financing, acquisition, and restructuring of major projects across upstream and downstream petroleum, power generation, large-scale construction, and PPPs. His mandates regularly involve state-owned entities, international sponsors, multilateral lenders, and development finance institutions - requiring sophisticated risk allocation, multi-jurisdictional structuring, and long-term regulatory navigation.

Drawing on deep knowledge of the Ugandan and regional markets, Edwin is a consistent first choice for international and regional investors entering Uganda, advising on project structuring, regulatory strategy, and the establishment of long-term operational platforms.

Edwin's broader transactional practice spans high-value mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, banking and finance, and telecommunications. He has played a defining role in some of Uganda's most significant telecoms transactions - including major acquisitions and sector-shaping regulatory engagements, and has been retained as lead counsel by major operators and the industry regulator alike.

His cross-border advisory work extends to strategic investments and joint ventures across technology, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, media, security printing, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors, in which he brings both transactional discipline and an understanding of the commercial dynamics that determine whether deals succeed in practice.

Edwin has also handled notable commercial disputes, bringing the same commercial pragmatism that defines his transactional work to contentious matters. As a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and an experienced Advocate, he is well-placed to advise clients on litigation strategy in disputes arising out of the energy, infrastructure, and commercial sectors in which he most frequently operates.
